We camped here two previous years when it was Eagles Nest. It is evident this year that a lot of money was spent over the last year it upgrades. Good, wide paved roads, new pool (too small), new bathhouses, etc. However, we will not be back. We were told next year rates go to$79 in the regular section with a 7 night minimum. We've always stayed 4 nights. This might be fine for someone who chooses this for their week, which we don't.
We camped here with Good Sam Rally. We were out in the Rally field. Unfortunately they were not adequately able to provide ample electric service to a group this large in 90+ heat. We kept losing power and having to have the breaker reset. The campground was responsive each time the electric went off. Hopefully they can get this problem resolved.
We recently spent from Monday to Friday there. As far as we could determine we were the only people there during that time except for a few seasonals who came and went. I suppose this was because it was weekdays and schools were still in session. A couple of trailers came in Thursday night, surely during the weekend the place would be fuller. The daily cost is $40.00. However, we found we had to pay an additional 4.00 a night for 50 amp. Also, the reservation is for two people only. All children older than 5 are an additional $4.00 a night. There were lots of seasonal sites, and most were very well maintained. The sites are quite large with trees between most sites. It is in a wooded setting. The manager/owners seemed friendly enough.
Where we camped there was no sewer hookups, but there are dump stations which we used on the way out. The only issue we had was that we were with a group and were using a pavillon. Apparently the rules are really strict here. We moved some tables around to give us room to play a game. Someone came by on a golf cart and told us to put the tables back how they had them NOW! From that point on we felt we were being closely watched. However, we do plan on going back again next year.
The campground apparently has new owners this year. They all went out of their way to accomodate us. On Sunday morning we found we had no pancake syrup after having made pancakes. Store was to open at 9 but they saw us there at 8 and came over and opened it for us. This is a smaller park with many seasonal rigs there, some of them having seen better days. The place needs lots of work it but it was evident the new owners were up to the challenge.
We loved this park. It is kept immaculate. The park rangers are constantly patroling the area, empting the trash cans and doing maintenance work. To make things even better, they accept the Golden Age Pass so the usual $18 fee was only $9.00. This is a nice place to just sit back, relax and enjoy nature. The deer even put on a show behind our site.
